AID INDIA is carrying out relief operations in the flood affected areas of Chennai, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram & Tiruvallur districts of Tamilnadu. Until now, 203 relief trucks have reached out nearly 102,500 people.

10 Jan 2016: AID India construts Eureka Homes at Koovathur Colony

Eureka Homes conducted at Koovathur Colony - for Kumar and Selvi. AID INDIA's flood relief efforts are moving towards long term rehabilitation for the poorest and most affected families. AID INDIA team has completed our first flood affected Hut to Home Reconstruction in a record 16 days!

  • 102 homes constructed, 52 homes construction in progress
  • 850 water filters distributed
  • 1,550 school stationery kits distributed
  • 590 cooking vessels with drums distributed
  • 4,200 notebooks distributed
  • 255 trucks with relief materials sent
  • 185 villages, 82 slums areas covered across 10 clusters
  • 1,12,500 people benefitted from the relief initiative
  • 1,600 volunteers actively involved in relief work

Cuddalore Relief Work Updates

16th & 17th Dec 2015: Relief work was carried in the mentioned flood affected areas of Cuddalore district: Anaivari Kattunayakkan Street in Bhuvangari block, Athivarakanallur in Parangipettai Block, Parathursavadi, Melavanniyur in Keeralpalayam Block.

Food & relief materials and Ration bags to 250 families were distributed. In Melavanniyur & Parathurasavadi villages, ration bags to 920 houses were distributed. In Settikulam, Annamalainagar PUPS, 20 mats were distributed. Students of Annamalai University collected Rs.9060/- among themselves and gave them to the relief work done by AID India.

Sarathas Cloth stores from Pudukkottai provided clothes to 2ho houses in Pichavaram village of Parankipettai block.

The team is sourcing food, water and materials and collecting at the AID India office.

4700 dinners and 2300 lunches and 2000 water bottles were distributed to families rescued from Kotturpuram at the St Francis Xavier school camp, Saidapet and Royapettah slums , Blind School in Kotturpuram, Kotturpuram Housing board colony and the bridge and Ganesapuram slum in Mylapore.

We are looking for more volunteers to help in the sorting, packing and distribution tomorrow. Please drop by at our office anytime and volunteer.


Update from Ravishankar on Dec 4th night relief efforts

We finished relief work at St. Francis Xavier and got back at 10.15pm. Mainly distributed mats and water which were the biggest requirement. Over 400 people there and still coming. The 400 people are in 20 classrooms. There is power but the school itself is water logged and no coordination from the govt. officials.

‘Ennum Ezhuthum - 2017’ (numbers & letters) campaign was launched in 2008 in Tamil Nadu with the cause to spread the importance of quality education in the villages during the summer holidays (May – June).This is to ensure every child will learn to read Tamil words and solve 2 digit addition problems. This year, the campaign has been launched in 5,000 villages across various districts in Tamil Nadu.
