Battle of the Buffet 2015

Entering its 7th year, The Battle of The Buffet organized by Chennai Mission and CIOSA is Chennai’s curtain raiser to Daan Utsav (Joy of Giving Week). A gala fun filled evening with great food, fantastic music, and the coming together of like-minded people – all for a social cause!

Chefs of leading 5 star hotels and their teams will cook up a storm (literally) to put together a delightful buffet(Indian and international cuisine) showcasing their culinary talentand throw it open to the people of Chennai, to raise funds for over 60 NGOs across Tamilnadu. The restaurants, the chefs and their teams cook up and serve a feast as their “act of giving”.


Playback Singer Padma Shri. Hariharan will be performing live and enthralling the audience, taking up the fun quotient by several notches!

Date & Venue: 1st October 2015 Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai between 6.00 pm and 10.30 pm as part of the Joy of Giving Week – 2nd Oct to 8th Oct 2015.

Your contribution made towards young teacher scholarship will support the following components for a period of 1 year.

  • Teaching aids specially designed for young teachers.
  • Workshops to enhance skills of young teachers.
  • Certificates for Young Teacher on helping children in their group, achieve skills.
  • Academic support for Young Teachers.


» Teaching Aids for Tutors & Teachers

Your contribution made towards teaching aids for tutors & teachers will support the following components for a period of 1 year.

  • Learning materials in Tamil, Math & English.
  • Training sessions on content and capacity building.
  • Co-curricular workshops for tutors & teachers.



» Learning materials for 1 center on contributing Rs. 15,000 (2 Donor passes)

Your contribution made towards learning materials will support the following components in 1 center supporting 20 children for a period of 1 year.

  • Seperate learning materials in Tamil, Math, English.
  • Science experiment kits along with concept booklets.
  • Graded worksheets and workbooks for every child.
  • Certificates for every child on achieving skills in each of the subjects focused.

‘Ennum Ezhuthum - 2017’ (numbers & letters) campaign was launched in 2008 in Tamil Nadu with the cause to spread the importance of quality education in the villages during the summer holidays (May – June).This is to ensure every child will learn to read Tamil words and solve 2 digit addition problems. This year, the campaign has been launched in 5,000 villages across various districts in Tamil Nadu.
