We were truly surprised by the zeal shown by the school students in our efforts towards Gaja Cyclone Relief. Children from Asan Memorial School, Chennai collected food material, toiletries and other essential supplies to help the people in need. At the other end of the age spectrum, we have graduate students from St. Thomas College of Arts and Science who mobilized relief materials and distributed materials by visiting the Gaja Cyclone affected areas of Tamilnadu.
Volunteer Speak :
Shiva, a volunteer of Aid India, working as a Travel Curator, has been with us for quiet a long time now. When we started collecting relief materials for Gaja Cyclone, he stepped in and started mobilizing materials in large amounts like Biscuits, Rice, Dal, Candles, Tarpaulin Sheets, Sanitary Napkins, Milk Powder, Rusks, Solar Lamps, etc. As he says," I've been volunteering with Aid India for the purpose of Gaja Cyclone relief. It's been a challenge to mobilize materials everyday, but with the help of so many others, I was able to contribute a little. I personally went along with Aid India relief truck to visit the affected areas and to distribute relief materials. It was saddening to see the status of people in the affected areas. Aid India identified villages that was not easily accessible, they connected with people of interior villages and mobilized community volunteers who can help us in distributing relief materials. With the help of Aid India, I was able to reach people in need and I extend my thanks to Aid India for giving me this opportunity to work the people in need".
A Big Thank You!
